Survey to determine access solutions
We will carry out a thorough survey of your site so as to establish the most appropriate access solutions. The criteria used to ascertain the most suitable access methods are as follows:
- compliance with current health and safety legislation and relevant codes of practice
- reducing risk to health and safety to the absolute minimum
- achieving the required service quality
- lowering costs to the minimum level possible
Our access techniques include ladders, site fixed cradles, hydraulic platforms, abseiling and the Reach and Wash system. This means that we will find the right access solution to comply with current health and safety requirements.
The reach and wash system – using de-ionised water pumped to a height of 65ft via carbon telescopic poles, external surfaces can be cleaned up to 5 storeys high with our operatives feet firmly on the ground.
Hydraulic platforms – Our IPAF trained operators utilise hydraulic platforms (sometimes known as a ‘cherry picker’ or MEWP mobile elevating work platform) for access at height where required. The specification of the correct platform is vital in order to ensure operative safety, the required access and the protection of paved areas and building elements. Features such as articulating and telescopic booms, cage rotation and fly (jib) booms make hydraulic platforms a safe alternative to ladders, scaffold towers and scissor lifts.
Abseiling – Rope access work can only be carried out in a reliably safe manner where operatives are suitably experienced, trained and competent. Due to the potential hazards associated with working at height, it is essential that operatives are properly trained. NJC abseiling operatives are trained and assessed to IRATA standards.
Harnesses, eyebolts and latchways – NJC are proficient in the use of harnesses attached to either eyebolts or latchways to access and clean external facades when required. We can also arrange for regular eyebolt and latchway testing and maintenance to ensure compliance and safety during usage.
